The Technology
Behind Our Products

We are not what we eat,
but rather what we absorb.

Cylodextrins and liposomes have shown tremendous results in increasing the bioavailability and solubility of many compounds which, when taken orally, cannot be absorbed to reach therapeutic dosages and induce positive, metabolic effects. These ‘new’ delivery systems promise effective and efficacious herbal drug delivery.”

PHOSPHOLIPIDS

Phospholipids are the primary building blocks of all cellular structures (ie: cell membrane, mitochondria, nucleus) and they serve to hold the cell together and protect it from chemicals that can alter the function and integrity of the cell.  While protecting the cell, phospholipid membranes are subject to constant attacks from free radicals, pathogens, and toxins.

Thus, your body requires a constant supply of phospholipids.  While some can be synthesized by the body, others, termed “essential phospholipids”, must be supplied through diet.

There are many benefits derived from phospholipids, including, but not limited to:

  • astounding anti-aging effect*,
  • decrease total serum lipid and LDL (the bad cholesterol)*,
  • increase HDL (the good cholesterol) *,
  • decrease triglyceride and platelet aggregation*,
  • amplify red blood cell fluidity*,
  • heighten coronary circulation*,
  • expand exercise tolerance*,
  • increase quality of memory*,
  • increase immunity*, and
  • protect and rejuvenate liver function.*

LIPOSOMAL TECHNOLOGY

A strategy to circumvent low solubility is to use a liposome as a “carrier” for herbal drugs which are prone to be degraded and excreted and therefore unable to reach therapeutic dosages. Liposomes not only protect the compound until target tissues are reached, but they also enable slow release at the target site over prolonged periods of time.

Zetpil™ products have all been manufactured using Liposomal Technology.  Not only do we offer an alternative delivery method to bypass the hazards of oral delivery (ie: destruction in the gastric environment), but we also manufacture our products with this new nanotechnology which dramatically enhances the efficacy, bioavailability, absorption, and delivery of dietary and herbal compounds so they can reach their therapeutic dosage and full potential.

When herbal compounds are manufactured with phospholipids as the base of the liposome, they are readily accepted by the body as essential building materials and quickly assimilated into the bloodstream for delivery throughout the body. When needy cells “borrow” the fresh phospholipid molecules from the liposome for rebuilding, the contents of the liposome are delivered to the same needy cell.

CYCLODEXTRINS

Hydroxy-propyl beta-cyclodextrins ENHANCE the liposome even further, maintain integrity and stability and therefore offer an increased chance of reaching target sites throughout the body, not just localized.

“In particular, the more soluble derivatives of cyclodextrins, such as hydroxypropyl betacyclodextrin, are in a class of their own and have become available as a powerful solution for today’s challenging formulations.”

Hydroxypropyl Beta cyclodextrin: a key technology for drug ..

Just as a liposomal sphere forms a barrier to protect its contents, cyclodextrins (CDs) also “entrap” molecules in their internal cavity to prevent early release and exposure of the herbal drug to the body.  CD formation does not change the active compound, but rather creates a state of equilibrium within the liposome.

“The ability of cyclodextrins to form inclusion compounds through molecular encapsulation has been known for many years, and this enhances the solubility and the bioavailability of key compounds which have shown poor bioavailability and absorption in human studies.”  CD-complexation has also shown significant improvement in rectal absorption.
